Aid to Refugees from Syrian Civil War

There is nothing in the world that is more appalling in this world than the subjugation of innocents and the targeting of civilians to further a tyrannical agenda.

One such abhorrent occurrence is the Syrian Civil War that began in March of 2011 and has been ravaging Syria ever since.

The war is considered to have officially begun when mass protests erupted against president Bashar al-Assad's government in Damascus and Aleppo, and then spread throughout Syria. On April 25, the Syrian army started deadly attacks on towns. Significant armed rebellion began early June in a city in northwest Syria with a population of 44,000. By the end of July 2011, defecting Syrian officers formed the Free Syrian Army aiming w to bring down the government with united opposition forces. By July 2012, with 16,000 people killed, the Red Cross judged the fighting in Syria so widespread that the conflict should be considered a civil war.

In 2013, Hezbollah entered the war in support of the Syrian army. The Syrian government is upheld by military support from Russia, which was expanded in the winter of 2013-14, and Iran, while Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and United States transferred weapons to the rebels. The U.S, Britain and European and Arab states have declared a readiness to support the mainstream Syrian opposition. According to the United Nations, the death toll exceeded 100,000 in June 2013, and reached 120,000 by September 2013. In addition, tens of thousands of protesters, students, liberal activists and human rights advocates have been imprisoned and there are reports of widespread torture and terror in state prisons. International organizations have accused both government and opposition forces of severe human rights violations. The severity of the humanitarian disaster in Syria has been outlined by UN and many international organizations. More than four million Syrians have been displaced, more than three million Syrians fled the country and became refugees, and millions more were left in poor living conditions with shortages of food and drinking water.

While the majority of the world completely ignored the plight of these displaced, injured, and violated innocents, certain people have picked up the slack and provided for aid and assistance to them. Although their neighboring Arab countries completely ignore the plight of their fellow compatriots, providing some monetary aid for insurgents if at all, the neighboring people of Israel have opened their arms wide and the donations for food, shelter, medical aid, and surgeries have been pouring in from Israeli donors and the Israeli government. LEIBISH has joined in the effort to provide this desperately needed assistance to these desperate and unfortunate, good and honest people.
