Another Fancy Color Diamond in the Spotlight

An 8.06 carat, pear shape, very light pink diamond with a VVS1 clarity was a highlight at the Bonham’s auction on October 17th in NY. It sold for $389,000. Following that was a 5 carat fancy light yellow VS1 for $87,500, a 3.19 carat pear shape fancy deep brownish yellow, VS2 for $23,750 and last but not least, a 2.15 carat square fancy vivid yellow, VVS1, for $37,500.


Fancy Color Diamonds have been getting a lot of attention in the last few auctions, and will probably get even more attention in the months and years to come. The public at large is getting more aware and educated on fancy color diamonds, which creates a bigger demand. Investors’ awareness has also increased while looking on where to get the most value for their cash. Fancy color diamonds are creating major buzz in the investment community at large and everybody is trying to figure out how to make this commodity a more streamlined hard asset investment with abundance of possibilities and growth potential.
