Diamonds Abound at the 2015 Golden Globes
The 2015 award shows season has officially kicked off with one of the crown jewels of all award shows: The Golden Globes. With all the winners (and losers) of various awards, fabulous eveningwear, and sensational hairdos come the much-anticipated jewels that drip so enticingly from our favorite stars. This year’s show was especially shimmering, thanks to a few leading ladies who went over the top in terms of their diamonds. Here is a look at some of the most monumental diamond appearances of the 2015 Golden Globes.
First and foremost, the gorgeous 38-year-old mother of three, takes the cake for being the most expensively jewelry-clad star at the event due to the $1.5 million worth of diamonds she wore to complement her silver gown. The stunning Calvin Klein metallic gown took the back burner, leaving the spotlight open for Reese’s $600,000 diamond earrings, $695,000 6.75-carat diamond and platinum ring, and $200,000 diamond and 18K gold bracelet. That is a lot of carats for one teeny-tiny woman. Nevertheless, Reese looked phenomenal and was most definitely the belle of the ball.
They say that in order for something to truly stand out one must not allow anything else to steal the attention. Well, Lorde might have gotten a little carried away with this train of thought, as the normally heavily made up 18-year-old singer showed up with minimal makeup and a toned down and more sophisticated look, which of course drew more attention to her magnificent jewels. Lorde’s 100-carat diamond and platinum Cleopatra necklace was a showstopper and her five diamond and platinum rings were near seconds.
It seems the blonde actress is a firm believer in the saying “third time’s a charm,” as this is apparently the third event this year where Watts has appeared wearing the unusual 76-carat diamond Bulgari snake necklace. This time around, the serpent statement necklace was paired with yet another “loud” piece: a bright yellow strapless Gucci gown. That is not all. The star snuck yet another eye-catching look in with her orangey-red choice of lipstick. Though some may argue that Watts combined too many unusual pieces together, others will appreciate the boldness of each piece on its own as well as all of them as a whole. Watts wore what appears to be the same necklace back in June to the Happy Hearts Fund Gala, and donned a very similar one with an addition of a teardrop diamond pendant, worn on her back, to the premiere of How to Train Your Dragon 2 in May.
The comedienne who opened the show with fellow comedienne Amy Poehler looked very regal in a pair of Fred Leighton 1930s platinum and diamond clip earrings. Additionally, to complete the vintage look, Tina wore an antique platinum ring with nine carats of cushion-cut diamonds and onyx.
While Kate Hudson wins the award for leaving the least to the imagination, as her white cutout gown revealed lots of skin, she also wins the prize for “most uniquely covered in jewels.” The glamorous actress showed up wearing a very low cut halter dress with many cutouts on the sides. The Versace dress featured jewel-encrusted straps, which went remarkably well with her simple pair of Forevermark diamond studs.
The list for those decked out in brilliant diamonds in all shapes and sizes goes on and on, but one this is for certain: those who wanted their diamonds to speak for themselves made sure that they did! It’s all about what diamonds you choose, and how you wear them, and our stars most definitely know how to do both.
