Diamonds have always been and will always be a girl’s best friend, but they can also be guys’ best friends too. Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor, Drake, happily shelled out $100,000 for an 880-gram gold medallion necklace studded with fancy black, green, and canary yellow diamonds. Ben Baller, a custom jeweler who was once a music executive himself, created the unusual piece. Now that Drake is officially one of the richest rappers on the planet as of last year, with a net worth of $60 million, it is only natural that he live it up with lavish items such as this extravagant medallion.
Drake was quite satisfied as 44-year-old Baller unboxed his diamond-studded medallion. He hung the large neckpiece around his neck right away while enthusiastically praising the size and overall appearance of the jewel.
Made from pure gold and weighing an impressive 880 grams, the hefty piece is comprised of several colored diamonds including black, green, and yellow. The diamonds read ‘Stone Island,” which is the Italian company that is sponsoring his Boy Meets World Tour.
The debut of this phenomenal piece comes after a long drama involving Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill finally came to an end. A quarrel between the two actors began a couple of years ago when Mill called Drake out for not posting about his newly released album, accusing him of not writing his own material. This began a back-and-forth argument between the pair that came out in social media as well as through Drake’s songs. After he saw that Mill and his girlfriend Nicki Minaj, who he was friendly with before this conflict began, had split, he decided to reunite and met up with Nicki and singing partner Lil Wayne.
Jewelry has a way of representing one’s personality and Drake’s new medallion certainly does just that. Men’s jewelry is generally bigger than women’s but this is a whole new level of “out there.” The flamboyant piece represents Drake’s outgoing personality and colorful style.
