Regal Jewels at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival
Red carpets at various high profile events are the perfect opportunities to get a glimpse at some of the most remarkable pieces of jewelry on the planet, created by the most reputable designers in the industry. The stars did not hold back at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, appearing in mesmerizing getups complete with tasteful and sophisticated jewels from the classic Chopard to the contemporary Lorraine Schwartz to the legendary Harry Winston. Here is a look at some of the most sensational pieces displayed by the many glamorous celebrities who have been attending the premieres at the 67th festival, which began May 14 and will end on the 25th.
Tall, redheaded, and absolutely drop-dead-gorgeous, Nicole Kidman knows how to turn heads. Between her stunning blue Armani gown and her Harry Winston jewels, the 46-year old beauty looked her absolute best. Kidman was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony due to her role as Grace Kelly. Her Harry Winston Caftan bracelet and Winston Cluster Line bracelet were the perfect choices for this incredible honor.
The delightful Zoe Saldana from Mr. Turner boasted Di Grisogono jewelry, specifically a pair of haute joaillerie gold earrings with yellow and black diamonds. Frieda Pinto also wore Di Grisogono jewels. A pair of diamond chandelier earrings were this Indian stunner’s choice of jewels.
The celebrated fashion model and actress looked absolutely ethereal in her one of a kind tulle blush pink dress. Her most outstanding accessory was of course the impressive double row pink heart and diamond necklace, although the fabulous chandelier earrings certainly lent an elevated sense of appeal.
Chopard jewels are quite the thing on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, and the 67th Cannes Film Festival was no exception, with model Karlie Kloss dazzling in a pair of 18-carat diamond and white gold Chopard earrings. The diamonds were, of course, ethically mined in South Africa. Zhang Ziyi also stunned in Chopard jewels. Her selection was a pair of graphic diamond chandelier earrings.
First-time director Melanie Laurent glowed in a pair of Chaumet platinum, diamond, ruby, and pearl 12 Vendome earrings. They complemented her crimson dress flawlessly.
Ms. Hayek sensibly paired her fuchsia-colored dress with a Boucheron Python white gold and diamond bracelet. Natasha Regnier also chose Chaumet jewelry, this time grey gold and diamond double earrings.
The magnificent Naomi Watts wowed in Bulgari’s Ultimate Temptation necklace, which was created in honor of the jewelry house’s 130th anniversary. The heavy necklace hung down the back of the actress’s neck in line with the most recent red carpet trend of back-draped jewelry.
No list is complete without the enchanting Blake Lively, who not only stole the show with her thigh-revealing burgundy gown, but also managed to do so on another occasion with a 180-carat diamond Lorraine Schwartz necklace together with her black and white Gucci Prive gown.
Though the festival is far from over, there has been more than enough glitz and glamor to keep us satisfied. Nevertheless, we are certain there will be even more fascinating pieces showing up in the days to come.
