Cell Phone Bling

High-end jewelry has been a status symbol for centuries.  Today, having the latest technology and gadgets is another way of declaring your status.  How about combining the two together? Cell phones are the center of todays advanced technology, since everything can be done from a smart phone.  From making a phone call to browsing the Web to taking pictures and listening to music; a cell phone can do it all.  Practically everyone in the modern world has a cell phone and carries it around religiously.  Why not have it look as good as it works?

The hardware can be flawless, but nothing could make it look better than some fancy bling. There have been specialty cell phones around for quite some time now, and they include gold cell phones, as well as phones studded with crystals and gems.  There are also cell phones that boast stunning diamonds.  Here is a look at some of these majestic devices as well as some of the most expensive cell phones ever sold.

  1. Motorola Aura Diamond Edition ($5,551) The Motorola Aura Diamond Edition is an 18K gold plated phone with 34 round-cut diamonds. This phone is relatively inexpensive because it lacks 3G, internet connectivity, and a GPS.
  2. Ulysse Nardin The Chairman Diamond Edition (up to $49,500) This masterpiece by Swiss manufacturer Ulysse Nardin boasts over 2,000 diamonds and 18K gold.  Only 100 of these wonders were made.

  3. Nokia 8800 Arte with Pink Diamonds ($134,000) This 18K white gold cell phone was designed by Peter Aloisson.  Featuring over 680 pink and white brilliant cut diamonds coming to a total of over 21.5 carats, this phone is one of the most spectacular phones ever made.
  4. Gresso Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot ($1 million) Only three units of this unbelievable phone have been produced. This is not just a super expensive cell phone, but also one with an Egyptian style, which goes well with a casino goer. There are 45.5 carats of black diamonds on this phone, as well as a backing made from 200 year-old African wood; the most expensive wood in the world.  Each and every key is cut from hand-polished sapphire crystal.  To top it off, the frame is a 180-gram solid gold frame.

  5. Diamond Crypto Smartphone ($1.3 million) The body of this phone is platinum, which accounts in part for the high price.  The other contributing factor to the steep cost of the phone is the 50 diamonds that adorn the phone, among them 8 rare blue diamonds. But that is not all. The navigation key, as well as the Ancort logo, is made from 18K rose gold.
  6. Goldvish Le million ($1.3 million) This fabulous phone was considered the most expensive cell phone in the world for a long time.  The glimmering device, which was probably more of a marketing stunt than an actual intended marketable item, was made in Geneva from 18K white gold and displays 1800 VVS-1 grade diamonds totaling 180 carats in all.  Though the phone is a bit outdated, it was still nothing to write home about in terms of the specs back in the day, since it only has a 2 megapixel camera and no 3G capability.

  7. Peter Aloisson iPhone 3G Kings Button ($2.4 million) This phone displays 138 brilliant-cut diamonds along its sides and a 6.6-carat rare white diamond as the home button.
  8. Goldstriker iPhone 3GS Supreme ($3.2 million) 136 color diamonds adorn this cellular beauty.  The structure is made from 271 grams of 22K gold.  The screen is trimmed with fifty-three 1-carat diamonds. The home button is a single stone 7.1-carat rare diamond.

  9. Stuart Hughes iPhone 4 Diamond Rose ($8 million) There are 500 individual diamonds on this phone totaling 100 carats.  They are studded all around the sides of the phone.  Additionally, there is a rose-gold Apple logo with 53 more diamonds, and a 7.4-carat pink diamond as the home button.
  10. Stuart Hughes iPhone 4S Elite Gold ($9.5 million) The Hughes Elite Gold is supposedly the most expensive phone in the world to date. Aside from being one of the most sought after phones in the world, featuring Siri and all, the handset features several hundred flawless diamonds. The home button is a single-cut pink 7.4-carat diamond.

Diamonds may look great on a ring, necklace, or bracelet, but there is no arguing with the beauty of these phones.  Not only are they beautiful but practical as well. White, black, pink, and blue diamonds have been featured on these phones, but other colors such as yellow, orange, and even brown diamond would look pretty cool on some of these designs.
