The fire rose cushion-cut, 545.67 carat (755 carats rough), Fancy Yellow-Brown Golden Jubilee diamond has an unknown clarity grade. The diamond has a unique cut, performed by renowned cutter Gabi Tolkowsky. The 545.67 carat weight of the diamond makes it not only the largest in the world but the largest faceted diamond in the world per se, an honor previously held by the 530.20-carat Cullinan I diamond.
The Golden Jubilee was discovered in 1985 at the De Beers Premier Diamond Mines in Transvaal, South Africa. This mine has been the source of some very famous diamonds, including the Cullinan, Niarchos, Taylor Burton, Centenary etc.
The diamond was presented in 1997 to the King of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, by the people of Thailand, to commemorate the occasion of the 50th Anniversary (Golden Jubilee) of his Coronation. It was previously known as the "Unnamed Brown”.
