Breakthrough Jewelry Trends Seen at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards
Award shows are perfect opportunities to spot stunning and unique jewelry. Along with the typical and classic jewelry styles, including those with twists and those without, there are always several standout trends that are quite visible at these gatherings, and this year's MTV Video Awards definitely didn't come up short on this end.
A rather apparent jewelry trend seen at this year's MTV Video Music Awards is the “climber” trend. A climber is a type of earring similar to a stud in that it is attached to the earlobe and does not hang down, but differs from it by “climbing” up the earlobe from the earring hole. Another noteworthy trend is the black diamond trend, followed by the “mix and match” trend. The latter trend consists of one wearing two different earrings for a funky and bold look.
Video-of-the-Year winner Taylor swift looked sensational combining all three of the award show's hottest trends by wearing black diamond mismatched earrings, including a magnificent climber by Lorraine Schwartz. As if the daring, midriff-baring, trouser number she wore wasn't enough, Taylor stunned with her hair sleekly pulled back, smoky eyes, and Christian Louboutin shoes. Singer and UK X Factor judge, Rita Ora, also wore delightful diamond ear climbers by Lorraine Schwartz.
Model Cara Delevingne wore Dana Rebecca black star studs and an unusual black diamond ear tattoo. Her earrings and remarkable black diamond choice went beautifully with her very short, star patterned, Saint Laurent dress and Stuart Weitzman heels.
More often than not, new trends involve introducing a new concept. Other times, however, new trends can be a twist on existing styles. Wearing mismatched earrings is one such example. By wearing two different, but otherwise simple and classic earrings, one mixes her whole look up a bit and gives it a bit of edge. This can be done with a wide range of earrings from studs to chandelier earrings and drop earrings. Taylor Swift showcased this trend as did many other celebs.

These three trends were most definitely the hottest at this year's MTV Video Music Awards show, there were many other fabulous jewelry trends seen as well. From gold chokers to pyramid drop earrings facing downwards, there was lots of glitz and glamour. Besides from black diamonds, plenty of colorless diamonds made appearances as well as stacked rings, yellow gold, and barely-there jewelry styles.
