Michelle Yeoh’s Blue Diamond Ring

Until her appearance in the action-packed movie James Bond –Tomorrow Never Dies, the Hong Kong actress was relatively unknown. However her appearance in the film as well as her relationship and engagement to Jean Todt, a motor racing tycoon, has made her quite famous. The Cullinan Blue Diamond Necklace

This history-packed necklace features nine extremely rare Blue Diamonds set into a double-ribbon bow necklace setting. In addition to the 5.57 carats of Blue Diamonds, the necklace also displays a total of 243 colorless diamonds. The famous South African diamond-mining mogul Thomas Cullinan promised his wife Annie that he would find her the largest diamond on the planet. Though he eventually discovered the Cullinan Diamond, a massive 3,106-carat diamond, he first presented her with this stunning necklace as a consolation gift. The necklace was passed on from generation to generation, until it fell into the hands of Cullinan’s great-granddaughter, Anne Robinson. The necklace was eventually sold in 1992 to Stephen Silver of Stephen Silver Fine Jewelry. On September 27th, 2010 the Cullinan Blue Diamond Necklace went on display at the Harry Winston Gallery.

5.55 Carat Tanzanite - Leibish Heart of the Ocean

The LEIBISH Version of the "Heart of the Ocean" Necklace

The Heart of the Ocean Necklace

This Blue Diamond necklace is one of the most famous Blue Diamonds to have been worn by a celebrity, only, it wasn’t real! The “diamond” made its debut in the memorable motion picture, Titanic, and became an icon. A fake diamond was used for the movie, since a Blue Diamond of that size is difficult to come by and would be too much of a risk to have around the set. Kate Winslet wore the Heart of the Ocean necklace, which was designed to look like the famous Hope Diamond. Even though the diamond she wore was not real, it captured the attention of millions by opening their eyes to the idea of such a magnificent item called a Blue Diamond. However, for the Oscars, the movie’s theme song singer, Celine Dion, wore a real remake of the necklace, valued at $4 million. The 171-carat necklace consisted of a heart-shaped blue sapphire surrounded by colorless diamonds.

The Orlov Diamond

The Orlov Diamond is a 189.62-carat Bluish-Green Diamond that sits in the Imperial Scepter of Russia’s Catherine the Great. It is said to have the shape and proportions of half a chicken’s egg. The diamond dates back to the 18th century and should not be confused with the Black Orlov Diamond.

The Hope Diamond

The French Monarchy was the first owner of the world’s most famous Blue Diamond, the Hope Diamond. Originally known as the Tavernier Blue and the "Le bleu de France,” the Hope Diamond was purchased by King Louis XIV of France during the 17th century. Since then there have been many legends involving strange mysteries and curses. The diamond was supposedly stolen from the statue of the Indian Goddess Sita and passed down from owner to owner till it landed in the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington D.C. where it resides today.

As much as celebrities and royalty adore Blue Diamonds due to their utter natural beauty, the rare stones are unusual to find on a regular basis. Therefore, Blue Diamonds of all shades, sizes, and clarity levels are welcomed with open arms. To have something as truly unique and beautiful as a Blue Diamond is a dream for all of us!
