Heiress Huguette Clark’s $19 Million Jewelry Collection

Stunning jewelry can be found among people of all sorts, but when it comes to hoards of rich jewels, there’s nothing like the jewelry collection of a wealthy heiress such as that belonging to the late Huguette Clark.  Clark was one of America’s wealthiest people, as well as one of its biggest enigmas.  Ms. Clark was a peculiar individual who passed away last year at the ripe age of 104. Now, some of these spectacular jewels are being sold.

Huguette Clark, daughter of Anna Clark, who married her sixty-two-year-old father, William A Clark, in secret at the age of twenty-three, was somewhat of a hermit.  She had not been photographed since 1930, when she was seen last, after signing her divorce papers. The last twenty years of her life were spent in various New York hospital beds.

One of the most spectacular pieces that Clark left behind is the rare 9-carat pink cushion-cut diamond ring, dating back to 1910. It is believed that her mother gave her the ring. This latest jewel set to go on sale may go for as much as $15 million. Another diamond ring in her collection is the 19-carat colorless square-cut flawless diamond ring valued at $2 to $4 million. The ring is made by Cartier and dates back to the 1930s.

Another Cartier item in the Clark jewelry collection is a diamond and emerald bracelet worth between $50,000 to $70,000. An additional diamond bracelet is estimated at $300,000 to $500,000.

Possibly one of the most interesting jewelry items belonging to the heiress is the Cartier charm bracelet featuring ten delicate charms in an array of colorful gemstones. This unique item is valued at $30,000.  Some of the charms displayed upon the bracelet include an elephant, a bird, and a pair of star-crossed lovers sitting on a bench. It is unclear who gave Ms. Clark the bracelet, as she disappeared from society before she turned thirty and never had any children.

Very little is known about Ms. Clark, one of America’s wealthiest women.  She lived a secret life yet left behind an outstanding jewelry collection fit for a queen. The jewels are enough to make any jeweler or collector drool. Huguette Clark inherited her father’s fortune when she was only twenty-one. Her older sister Andree died at the age of sixteen from Meningitis in 1919. At the time of her father’s passing, her inheritance was worth $300 million, which in today’s terms is $3.1 billion. Though a legal battle regarding the inheritance is still brewing, the fabulous jewelry pieces of the late Ms. Clark are being sold.  Anyone lucky enough to purchase one of the magnificent items should treasure and cherish it for years to come.
